Spring Musical Information
What happens when you mix a pajama factory, a workplace feud, a little romance, and a LOT of dancing? You get The Pajama Game!
At the Sleep-Tite Pajama Factory, new superintendent Sid Sorokin has his hands full-especially when he falls for Babe Williams, the fiercely determined leader of the workers’ union. When the employees demand a 7½-cent raise, the factory erupts into a hilarious battle between management and labor...and between two people who may be falling for each other.
Packed with big dance numbers, memorable characters, romance, comedy, and songs like “Steam Heat” and “Hernando’s Hideaway,” The Pajama Game is classic musical comedy at its absolute best.
And if you’ve never heard of it before? Even better.
We can’t wait to introduce a whole new generation to this ridiculously fun show!
-Mrs. Hayes, Artistic Director & Producer
-Mrs. Santa Croce, Music Director
-Mr. Meade, Pit Conductor
Want to get a head start? Do your research! Watch the original 1957 movie starring Doris Day and John Raitt or check out the 2006 Tony Award-winning Broadway revival starring Harry Connick Jr. and Kelli O’Hara. These are great ways to get familiar with the characters, music, comedy, choreography, and overall style of The Pajama Game before auditions.
Join us for a Musical Interest Meeting on Thursday, November 12 at 2:30 PM in the Chorus Room. Mrs. Hayes and Mrs. Santa Croce will walk you through the audition process, what to expect, and how to prepare. This meeting will last until 4:00 PM.
Please come to the meeting having done your homework! The directors will not answer individual questions about the musical, nor will they provide any audition coaching before or after the interest meeting. If you can’t attend, ask a peer who was there or check the audition information that will be posted on the theatre website after the meeting.
Audition sides will be available at the interest meeting, but do your own research, come prepared, and get excited! We can’t wait to see what you bring to the stage!
